new shorter website address & one taken offline

Posted 6/13/2014

Some of my earlier websites will as they are due to be renewed - not be!!

This is the case with www.hismastersvision.co.uk

This will go offline 19th June, but will still be viewable [but not added too] via links on halfling websites.

A new web link has however just be added - the new short web addresses are now available - so type in halfling.uk and up comes the website halfling.co.uk!!

More about this later...

more sad than annoying - ok it's both!!

Posted 6/11/2014

Every so often you get plagued with what in the business are called no shows - outside the business "time wasters" - people who arrange a shoot and then either don't reply as the day comes or don't show up, make excuses, - you get the idea, What these people don't seem to understand is it puts the whole "absolute beginners and shoots like it into question. They can only ever be viable if people respect my time as much as I respect thier's.

Lets however be clear here - genuine reasons not to make it are fine - what I hate is those who just go silent and then even worse apply again!!

Last Sunday was a wasted shoot day due to five yes five different people not making it...it was actually more but 3 were genuine reasons of family emergency and therefore are quite understandable. Each one had indicated they wanted to shoot that day - three have yet to contact me as to why it fell through!!

Yiorgos

Posted 6/11/2014

Yiorgos Makridakis - Last week Yiorgos took part in an absolute beginners shoot. 17 years old and very talented with strong ideas of his own, but able to take direction well. It was only his second shoot, and first at an outside location - which makes his efforts even more impressive. Certainly hope to include him more of the halfling project.

However some shoots happen!!

Posted 6/11/2014

This shoot [one of two] with Adriano [left] was somewhat unsual. For reasons it would take to long to explain we had only a short time to shoot late in the day on the first day. Adriano has a strong physique and given the choice of what to use this hour on - physique was the answer!! Not my usual style maybe, but remember we are building up profiles here. Adriano's two friends joined in resulting in an interesting shoot. There is always the problem with "lads" together shots that the context can look wrong to some who have not bothered to check the context the shots were shot under. However as a series the shots are very strong with all three very comfortable and able in front of the camera.

Delay

Posted 6/11/2014

Sorry for the long delay in entries to the blog - I have been somewhat unwell these past few weeks and that cut into computer time. This is also why some e.mails may have slow replies.

"absolute beginners shoot" - with lance

Posted 5/17/2014

Back to Cambridge to shoot Lance who happen to live there! This was the first halfling shoot in the absolute beginners section - people who have no experience of acting, modeling or serious work in front of a camera.

The aim is to see what we can achieve in a day, using many of the same techniques used with actors and models with some experience.

Here we see Lance, more used to the violin with a supplied prop!!

cambridge bridge in 2007

Posted 5/17/2014

Here as a matter of interest is the same bridge in 2007 - the first shoot of William David Photographic projects with Billy. For a longtime this image and a shirtless version were one of the main promotional images of the project. The project was set to be split evenly male/female or couples/friends. It was my first serious work in digital media as opposed to film.

Bridge over the river Cam at Sheeps Green May 2014Bridge over the river Cam at Sheeps Green May 2014

When I was in Cambridge today I have to admit I was feeling somewhat unwell, after being sick these past couple of weeks. It was good however to have a chat with two lads lazing by the cam as I shot the bridge images...chat much appreciated - you were lucky not be got involved in the project - lucky escape!!

Feel free to get in touch if you want to be included - you get to see a whole new "you" on these shoots hehe!!

To be serious my latest casting is to find people without any experience infront of the camera at all to see just how much we can acheive in a day on a photoshoot... if you know someone [male/female] or your interested in taking part just let me know...
